William Edwards was commissioned to create a bespoke bone china range for the re-opening of the iconic Belmond Cadogan Hotel in London.
The brief was to create a new all-day dining and afternoon tea service for the hotel, to enhance its modern British dining experience under the culinary direction of celebrated Head Chef, Adam Handling.
Following an extensive 4-year renovation, the historic Cadogan Hotel relaunched in February 2019, establishing a new partnership with Belmond.
Located in the heart of Chelsea, London, the Belmond Cadogan is a stylish city hideaway that offers both heritage and modern, understated luxury.
The design team worked closely with Head Chef Adam Handling and Nicola Cross at Cross Knox Consulting (procurement) to create a collection that took style cues from the hotel's luxurious interior and the mature trees and colourful ornamental planting in the adjacent gardens of Cadogan Square.
The result is a floral and colourful 25-piece afternoon tea service collection and a crisp white all-day dining set. The tea service “delivers an oasis of calm amidst the bustle of Knightsbridge.”
As well as a range of white plates set accented with a gold band, the team also incorporated white branches onto its acclaimed white ‘Snipe’ plates for the flagship Adam Handling Chelsea Restaurant. All pieces from the Belmond Cadogan Hotel collection come with a bespoke Adam Handling backstamp.
